SEND
At Preston Muslim Girls High School, we are committed to providing an inclusive education where every pupil, regardless of their starting point or individual needs, can access a broad and ambitious curriculum that enables them to achieve their full potential.
We recognise that pupils have special educational needs if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made. In line with the SEND Code of Practice (2015), we identify and support needs across four broad areas:
- Communication and interaction
- Cognition and learning
- Social, emotional and mental health
- Sensory and/or physical needs
Our Approach
We use our best endeavours to ensure that pupils with SEND receive the support they need to succeed. High-quality inclusive teaching, differentiated for individual pupils, is our first response to supporting all learners. Where pupils require additional support, we implement a graduated approach of assess, plan, do and review, working in close partnership with parents, pupils and external specialists where appropriate.
All teachers are responsible and accountable for the progress and development of pupils in their classes. Our SENDCo works collaboratively with staff to ensure that provision is evidence-based, regularly reviewed and focused on removing barriers to learning and achieving ambitious outcomes.
Working Together
We value parents as essential partners in their child’s education. We work closely with families to ensure that pupils with SEND are fully involved in decisions about their support, that their views are heard, and that provision is tailored to their individual strengths and needs.
