Preston Muslim Girls School Celebrates GCSE Success

Well done to the pupils at Preston Muslim Girl’s High School who are celebrating their GCSE results. For the last three years PMGHS has been recognised as being amongst the top 100 non-selective state schools in the country. This year the school is celebrating 100% pass rates in many subjects. The school’s results show an outstanding 90% of students gaining 5 GCSE passes at A*- C; and the percentage of those who gain grades A and A* is even more impressive at a whopping 44%!  Well done to them all!

There are so many pupils who have achieved outstanding results, it is difficult to single any individual student out. Special congratulations must go to Aisha Bax, the school’s top achiever, with 8 grade A* and 2 grade As. New government measures are now focusing upon how much progress students make during their time at school, not just how many GCSEs they achieved. Congratulations to Hafsa Tailor who is the school’s most improved student and in some subjects has made more than double the national rates of progress.

The Headteacher, Mufti Javid, said, “I would like to congratulate all the girls on their hard work and application.  PMGHSW is nationally recognised for its high standards and these pupils have had to work hard for what they have achieved.  I am certain that their excellent GCSE results and all round education will equip them well for future successes. A special thanks to all of the staff and parents as well. We know how important this partnership is in ensuring that our pupils achieve and often exceed their potential.”

As students move on to further education, training and employment this September we know that the skills, knowledge and experiences that they have gained from attending this highly commended school have provided an invaluable bedrock for their future success. We wish them all well.
